Cleta Melba Cormier, 95, of Vinton, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024 surrounded by loved ones. She was born to John and Adele Good on July 30, 1929 in Union City, Tennessee. Cleta enjoyed cooking for her family, traveling with her husband, playing Dominoes and visiting with her grandchildren. She was very involved with her church, Vinton Methodist Church, in various ministries throughout her life and she was also a member of the Masonic Order of the Eastern Star.
Cleta is preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Gerald “Honey” Cormier; father, John Good; mother, Adele Davidson Breaux; stepfather, Lawrence Breaux; and brother, Larry Breaux.
Those left to cherish her memory are, her children, Jerry Cormier (Sandy) of San Antonio, Texas; Joy Cox (Wayne) of Conway, Arkansas; Jim Cormier (Jennifer) of Vinton; six grandchildren, Alexis Ward (Jerry) of San Antonio, Blake Cormier (Lauren) of San Antonio, Sarah Luyet (John) of Conway, Casey Reed (Erick) of Vinton, Loren Labby (Josh) of Vinton, Katy Cox of Conway; 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson; brother, John Breaux (Pat) of Westlake; along with her sister-in-law, Emilie Breaux of Lake Charles.
The family would like to thank Amedysis Hospice for their care and support, particularly nurses Amy and Lauren. Also, a special thanks to her personal care givers, Shonda, Vesta, Kassie, Jill, Raigen, and Casey.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Vinton Methodist Church. Pastor Jody Robert will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church from 12 noon until time of service. A private graveside service will be held on Monday for the immediate family. Pall bearers will be Blake Cormier, Jake Luyet, Cody Labby, Luke Luyet, Sam Wilkinson, Scott Wilkinson. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Breaux, Josh Labby, Erick Reed and Rick Watson.
