He was a native of Sulphur and had been a longtime resident of Vinton. Alvin was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he served as a lay minister for 18 years, served as an usher, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus #6103 in Vinton. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was a member of VFW Post #9854. He enjoyed woodworking, rebuilding old furniture, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Katrina Trahan and husband, Todd of Vinton; and two grandchildren, Emily Trahan and Molly Trahan. He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Martha Ann "Meme" Broussard; his mother, Lillie Daigle; and a brother, Lloyd Daigle.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 26, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vinton. The Rev. Sylvester Kuubetersuur will officiate. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. Pallbearers will be Mark Daigle, Kevin Daigle, Doc Findley, Wayne Tharp, Joel Benoit, and Jude Richard. Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. Thursday with a Rosary service at 6 p.m. and will resume at 8:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
