Obituary of Larry Ray McClure
Larry Ray McClure, 73, of Vincennes, passed away Monday August 29, 2011 in Good Samaritan Hospital with his family at his side. He was born March 18, 1938 in Westphalia to the late Guy V. and Laura Margaret (Bishop) McClure. Larry graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1956 and proudly served his country in the U. S. Marine Corp. He was a member of The Old Cathedral , Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He was also a member and past president of the Harmony Society. Larry was the manager of the former Hillman's jewelry store and had worked as a salesman for Wickes Lumber, O'Donnell Supply and Homes Plumbing. He is survived by his wife, Selma (Mouzin) McClure, a son Patrick (Susie) McClure all of Vincennes, a daughter, Libby (Cary) Pond of Cisne, IL, 4 granddaughters, Kate Pond, Ann Pond, Ashley McClure and Shannon McClure and 2 grandsons, Benjamin Pond and Thomas McClure. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in The Old Cathedral with the Rev. John Schipp officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery with military honors provided by the All Weather Firing Squad. Friends are invited to visit and share memories of Larry with the family on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Gardner-Brockman Funeral home 505 Main Street. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Education Foundation with envelopes available at the funeral home.
