Randy Pilkenton, affectionately known as "Grandpa Tuna," passed away on July 20, 2024. Born on November 14, 1949, Randy was a proud graduate of Barstow High School, where he was a star football player.
Even in high school, he displayed a strong work ethic, balancing his studies and sports with a job at Coca-Cola and service in the National Guard Reserve. Randy had a passion for life's simple pleasures. Whether collecting antiques, creating a backyard oasis, or enjoying a cold one with friends, his zest for life was contagious.
He is remembered for his signature move—carrying around his favorite Gatorade bottle, which we all knew was filled with vodka and a splash of ginger ale. And who could forget his playful antics with his removable teeth?
After high school, Randy continued his career at Coca-Cola before embarking on a career with Budweiser, which he absolutely loved. His dedication and enthusiasm for his work were matched only by his love for sharing a cold one with friends and family. Randy's love for his family was immeasurable.
He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Silva (Joe), Amber Bell (Chris), and Sara Pilkenton, as well as his cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Randy Pilkenton II, who passed away in 2001, his parents, siblings, and his beloved dog Chica.
In honoring his legacy, we remember Randy as a man of humor, love, and resilience. May he rest in peace with those who have gone before him.
