Curt was born in Van Nuys, CA on October 2, 1958to Gene and Jean Dobbe. Curt and his sister had the joy of traveling many places with their parents throughout their youth. They lived in England, Spain, Iowa, Canada, and finally settled in Barstow, CA in 1973.
Upon his graduation in 1976 Curt enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at Vandenberg AFB on the central coast. While in the military Curtis lost his father Gene who succumbed to a fatal heart attack in 1979.
Curt was honorably discharged from the Air Force after two and a half years of service due to injury. Fortunately, Curt recovered and was able to work for several construction companies. Eventually he moved to Victorville to help take care of his mother, Jean, during her decline from a respiratory illness until her death in 1996.
Curtis enjoyed going to car races, watching his favorite team play football, enjoying the company of friends and spoiling his dog, Jenna. He had to retire from his construction career due to his illness from cancer and COPD. He spent several years going to the VA hospital in Loma Linda, CA for treatments and hospitalizations.
Curtis is preceded in death by his parents Gene and Jean Dobbe. His is survived by his sister Linda Taulbee and brother-in-law Tom Taulbee, nephews Kevin and Patrick Taulbee in addition to grand-nephews Sean and Brayden Taulbee. His closest friend Mark Loe, who took care of him and driving him to his cancer treatments and hospitalizations in Loma Linda VA hospital. Mark was like a brother to curt and the family. He kept Curt’s spirits up and was by his side until the end.
Curts’s remains will be interned at Victor Vally Memorial Park.
