Wayne F. Wagner, 84, of Inez, Texas, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024. He was born April 28, 1939, in Victoria, Texas, to Frank E. Wagner and Ora Lee Carroll.

Wayne was a millwright working for Alcoa and later in his life for Mobil Oil, where he retired. He enjoyed a second career as a hotshot driver before fully retiring.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Gloria Anders Wagner; daughters Cheryl Fritts (David) of League City; Susan Wagner (Kelly Tatum) of Inez; Kathryn Hodgson of Vanderbilt; Barbara Axtell (Mike) of Franklin. Wayne had six grandchildren, Heather Fritts Sepulveda (Ryan), Christopher Fritts, Kyle Fritts (Maritza), Rahn Axtell (Amber), Laurel Axtell Bryan (Kevin), and Brandon Hodgson; and seven great-grandchildren, Kailey, Amelia, Kash, Leyla, Honey, and Blayze Sepulveda; and Amelia Axtell, due to arrive on February 22, 2024.

Wayne loved the kids, whether they were his or not. They kept him young.

A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with Father Barnabas officiating. Reception following at St. Joseph Parish Hall.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Fritts, Kyle Fritts, Brandon Hodgson, Ryan Sepulveda, Michael Marek, and Matthew Marek.

Honorary pallbearers will be Rahn Axtell, Todd Marek, Dawn Villarreal, and Blake Marek.
