Tammy Renee Urech Reyes, 45, of Victoria, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022. She was born in Victoria to Celeste Ross Hagel and the late Douglas Urech on July 20, 1976. She graduated from Southwest Texas State University in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Her passion for people, especially children, would lead her to teaching fourth grade at Vickers Elementary School in August of 2014. She radiated love for her students, and it only took 6 years for Tammy to be named 2020’s Vickers Teacher of the Year, Region 3 Elementary Teacher of the Year, and ultimately Region 3 Teacher of the Year.
Tammy shone as brightly as the sun, and she was the embodiment of love. Her happiness, smile, and positive energy were contagious, and she shared them freely with everyone in her life: family, friends, coworkers, and even those she didn’t know. She was creative, she had a huge love for music (especially 80s and 90s pop/hip-hop), she was a dreamer, and she was a legend in the stands at the Victoria West High School Warriors’ games, cheering at the top of her lungs and furiously ringing her bell.
More than anything else in life, Tammy fiercely loved her husband Hector and her children, Nicole and Jacob. They were the brightest stars in her sky and her greatest loves of all.
Tammy is survived by her loving husband; Hector Reyes, daughter; Nicole Reyes, son; Jacob Reyes, mother and step-father; Celeste and Gary Hagel, sisters; Crystal (Willis) Bolden, and Tricia Urech, and step-sister; Stephanie (Chuck) McInturff. Tammy also leaves behind many other extended family and friends, all of whom will cherish her memory. Douglas Urech, her father, preceded her in death.
