Ruth E. Taylor, 94, of Victoria passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014. She was born September 15, 1919, in Sayreville, New Jersey, to the late Antone and Margaret Semonite Eberle. She graduated from South River High School and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Childhood Education from Glassboro State Teacher College. She retired after devoting 36 years of her life to students in Sayreville, New Jersey, and Victoria. Ruth had been a member of the Sayreville Methodist Church most of her life. It started with her Baptism as an infant and then as a student, a member of the church, altar guild, Sunday school teacher, treasurer of the Sunday School, member of the administrative board and various commissions, Jr. choir director, pianist for vacation Bible school, Sunday school and church. Not only did she dedicate her life to church and education, but she also spent 35 years in girl scouting and Brownies in Sayreville. She guided many students in these years and gave them their start in public school education as their kindergarten teacher. She was also a member of the Retired National Education Association, Retired New Jersey Education Association, Middlesex County Retired Teachers and the VFW Auxiliary.
After retiring she and her husband moved to Victoria where she lived for 35 years. She attended the First Methodist United Church where she joined a Sunday School class, played the piano and participated in the Methodist Seniors.
Ruth was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. Survivors include her son, Gary W. Taylor and his wife, Cynthia; adopted daughter, Sandra Thorpe; three grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, George E. Taylor; her sister, Miriam Fehrle; brothers, Warren Eberle, Charles Eberla and Willard Eberle.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 pm Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Rosewood Funeral Chapels.
Entombment will be take place at 11:00 am Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Franklin Memorial Park Mausoleum in North Brunswick, New Jersey.
