Robert (Bob) L. Moon, 73, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2011. He was born January 6, 1938, in San Benito to the late Lewis and Winnie Wiley Moon. Bob completed high school in San Benito and attended college in Corpus Christi and Brownsville, playing baseball and basketball at the former Texas Southmost College. He worked over 45 years in operations and supervision at Union Carbide in Brownsville and Seadrift Coke. He retired in 2002. Bob was involved with youth sports organizations for over 25 years. He coached Little League, Pony League and Pop Warner football from the time he was 16 years old until his own children were grown. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and was actively involved in many school and youth organizations. He married Betty Fellers on April 7, 1961, and his crowning achievement and most proud accomplishment was being a father, family man, and a loving husband to his wife, Betty for over 50 years. Bob was particularly proud of his eight grandchildren and loved spending time with them whenever possible.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Moon of Victoria; brother, Richard Moon and wife, Elaine, of Goliad; sister, Lois McDonald and husband, Jim of San Antonio; sons, Bobby Moon, Jr. and wife, Susie of Katy, and Alan Moon and wife, Ann of Victoria; daughters, Laura Ingle and husband, Joe of Corpus Christi, and Tracy Morrison and husband, Ron of Collierville, Tennessee; eight beautiful and handsome grand kids, Courtney, Hunter, Jason, Megan, Allie, Allison, Kailee and Sarah, as well as 7 nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.
The family will greet friends from 4:00-6:00 pm Sunday, September 11, 2011, at Rosewood Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Monday, September 12, 2011, at Rosewood Funeral Chapel, Rev. Nick Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rick Moon, Don Moon, Jeff Moon, Dave McDonald, Dan McDonald, Steve McDonald, Jason Moon and Hunter Ash.
