She graduated from Hallettsville High School in May, 1934, as the honor -girl graduate. She married Ernest Schultz in November, 1934.
She and Ernest moved to Tivoli in 1939. Ernest was a hard-working, successful farmer. Reatha was not only a dedicated mother to her four children, but was a beautiful seamstress, quite creative in craftwork, and a marvelous cook. She was very involved in school activities with her kids, and was known for all the cookies she baked for their parties and her famous homemade bread with butter.
Reatha was active and held offices in the Tivoli Lutheran Church, the Refugio County Home Demonstration Club, Tivoli Cemetery Society, Boy Scouts, and helped with Red Cross and Cancer Society collections,.
Ernest passed away in August, 2000. Reatha later sold the farm and moved to Copperfield Village in Victoria in 2004. She and her family cherished her days there, and later at Main Street Personal Care.
Left with so many happy memories are her four children: Daughters: Morla Walker of Victoria and Marilyn Prasek and her husband Gene of Burleson, Texas and sons: Aubrey and wife Edna of Longmott and Bill and his wife Lana of Victoria. She is also survived by her brother "Wild Bill" Morley and his wife Linda of Victoria. "Uncle Willie" (as he is known to all of Reatha's children) was such a caring and faithful brother who visited her almost daily when she weakened. During these visits, he lifted her spirits and those of her caretakers with his wit and his famous jokes. Grandma will also be greatly missed by her 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many many friends.
Reatha was preceded in death by her only sister Ada Marie Sommer,her parents and her grandparents.
Pallbearers are Aaron Shultz, Derek Schultz, John Eric Novak, Dustin Novak, Justin Turner, Preston Turner, Cloyton Turner, Carter McKelvain, Cooper Kolle, John Novak, Clay Kolle and Robert DeLeon.
Visitation will be held Friday 6:00-8:00pm at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services Saturday 11:00am at First Lutheran Church in Tivoli, Texas. Rev. Jim Gicklhorn will be officiating. Burial will be at the Tivoli Cemetery.
