Mrs. Steele was my first grade teacher at William Offer on North Street in 1952.  I think this was her first job out of college and had just gotten married.  She was a loving and guiding person and started me off right and many others on their pursuit of an education.   I kept meeting  Mrs. Steele at various stores and she always had a smile and greeting.  I met Mrs. Steele again when I was visiting a friend at Elmcroft.  I stayed for a visit and to reminisce about our former days.  I let other friends who had Mrs. Steele for a teacher where she was in hoping they too could brighten her day.  As she entered the halls of Twin Pines on  Mockingbird where my mother  Ellerine Dentler and I were part of First English Lutheran Church giving communion I tried to stop each month to greet her.  I found her one time in the chapel playing the piano wonderfully.  Later I noticed her memory had slipped but she still remembered she was a teacher.  I lost track of her a few years ago and noticed her death in the paper.  I am glad someone from the family stepped up to take care of such a wonderful lady.   I am sad that I am not able to attend, but she will always be in my heart and an enduring part of my life.  Always her student.

Mrs. Steele was my favorite teacher of all time.  I had her for 1st grade at Stanley and I still remember my first day of school and her giving me a hug and saying that she was so glad I was there.  We moved and I left Stanley in 3rd grade but went back to see her a few times after that.  It is rare that a teacher leaves that big of a lasting impression on you.  I will never forget her, she was so kind and loving.   I will always cherish those memories of the time I spent in her classroom!  

Margaret was a friend of my mother’s whom she met at First Baptist church when I was a baby. They remained friends for years through their shared association of being first grade teachers. Our family also had our eyes cared for by Dr. Allen.  They were a sweet couple and good friends.  Peace, Sue Smith Howard

I remember Mrs. Steele in 1959 when she was my first grade teacher at William Offer. I loved her so much that I decided then that I wanted to be a teacher, too. When I graduated from high school, she sent me a card congratulating me. I couldn't believe she remembered me. She was a really wonderful person.
