Jesse Baker, Jr. 86 of Victoria, passed away October 31, 2014. He was born in Kemp, Texas April 25, 1928 to the late Jesse James and Laura Elizabeth Sneed Baker. Jesse was a self-employed accountant for many years in the Victoria area. He was a Korean War Veteran serving in the United States Army. Jesse was very active in the churches of Christ for many years, serving as a teacher, song leader, deacon, and as an Elder from 1970 to 1995 and was currently a member of Blyth Road Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years Murlene Chilcutt Baker of Victoria, Daughters Sharon Lumpkins and husband Gary of Victoria and Linda Slough and husband Gary of Victoria; son Jimmy Baker and wife Paula of Victoria; grandchildren Shanna Dusza and husband Mat, Shane Lumpkins and wife Whitney, Courtney and Ashley Slough, Lindsey Baker and Laura Greene and husband Mike; great grandchildren Austin Lumpkins, Evie, Adelaide and Annie Dusza.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Ima Lucille Baker, Buelah Mae Baker and Delphia Moore; brothers Billy and John Baker.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday, November 3, 2014 at Colonial Funeral Home. Services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Colonial Funeral Home with Mr. Will McDonald officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council.
Pallbearers will be Dale Fowler, Glyn Jolly, Bootie Pearson, Rocky Hansen, Bruce Hill and Richard Smith.
