Geraldine Mae Parker Broome, 81, of Victoria passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2014. Gerry, as all knew her, was born on January 1, 1933, in Stillwell, Oklahoma, to the late Elmer F. Parker and Jessie Holderread Parker. Her family moved to La Salle, Texas, where Gerry grew up and attended Vanderbilt High School.
Gerry was preceded in death by her father and mother; her husband, Thomas E. Broome, Jr.; her brothers, Clifford Parker, Stanley Parker and Tom Parker; her sisters, Helen Evans and Dorothy Porter .
Survivors include four daughters and one son, Deborah Stephens (Steve), Jackie Dierlam (Larry), Linda Gore (Milt), Billy Broome (Peggy), all of Victoria, and Jo Lynn Blythe of Mobile, Alabama; sisters, Ruth Teal of Missouri City and Maxine Gates of Edna; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Gerry loved spending time with her family and enjoyed the outdoors, especially her yard work. She also enjoyed crafts which included doll making, woodworking, painting and needlepoint.
The family will receive friends at Noon at Rosewood Funeral Chapels on Tuesday, October 7, 2014. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 pm, with Rev. Larry Helms officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be Clinton Stephens, Clayton Stephens, Matthew Gore, Derrick Broome, Patrick Broome and John Blythe, all grandsons of Mrs. Broome.
