David Pelle Newbern

David Pelle Newbern, 93, of Victoria passed away Saturday, October 19, 2013. He was born September 12, 1920, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Thomas Dorsey and Dorothy Pelle Newbern. Dave retired from DuPont in 1984 with 43 years of service as a Mechanical Engineer.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Rita Newbern of Victoria; sons, Tom Newbern and his wife, Nanette of Kerrville, and Douglas Newbern and his wife, Cathy of Victoria; six grandchildren, Derek Newbern and wife, Pam, of Issaquah, Washington, Ryan Newbern and wife, Tonya of Albertville, Alabama, Jason Newbern of Victoria, Tammy Shamburger and husband, Austin of Plano, Chelsie Newbern and Kylie Newbern, both of Victoria; five great-grandchildren, Caden, Paige, Maci, Kassie and Brooklyn.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Newbern is preceded in death by a brother, Thomas D. Newbern.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 – 6:30 pm Friday, October 25, 2013, at Rosewood Funeral Chapels.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Saturday, October 26, 2013, at First Christian Church, Rev. Jim Shamburger officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be P. L. Gill, Jim Dusek, Victor Rendon, Jason Newbern, Austin Shamburger, Kent Grier, Jesse Guerra and Carl Camarillo.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
