Annie M. Jurena Motal, 90, of Victoria passed away Monday, February 20, 2012. She was born August 7, 1921, in Hochheim to the late Frank and Janie Petru Jurena. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church for 74 years, arriving in Victoria in 1938 following her marriage to the late Frank Joseph Motal, Sr.
Our mother was a homemaker and enjoyed making kolaches for her family and friends. She was a quilter and turned out quilts for all of her children and grandchildren. She was also an active member of the St. Mary’s Altar Society, KJZT, ICA, American Legion Auxiliary, Nazareth Academy PTA and St. Joseph’s Mothers Club.
Survivors include her daughters, Beatrice (Shelton) Dieringer of Inez, Pauline (Herman) Sturm and Evelyn (Wayne) Dierlam, both of Victoria; sons, Frank (Georgia) Motal, Jr. and Stephen (Susie) Motal, both of Victoria; sister-in-law, Frances Jurena of Yoakum; nieces, Carole Petru Rackley and Janet Petru of Victoria; nephews, Michael (Lois) Jurena, Bernard (Nancy) Jurena and Wayne Petru of Goliad; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandson.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Annie Mary Motal; brothers, Clement and Adolph Jurena; sister, Rosalie Petru; niece, Carolyn Jurena.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 pm Friday, February 24, 2012, at Rosewood Funeral Chapel. A Rosary will follow at 7 pm.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 25, 2012, at 10 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Mark Dieringer, Buck Motal, Kevin Sturm, Bryan Dierlam, Kyle Motal and Gerald Sturm.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Altar Society, Nazareth Academy or St. Joseph High School.
