Alice was born on June 24, 1940 in Bay City Texas to Charlie P. Jones and Mary Alice Osborn.
Alice was preceded in death by her 5-year-old son Jay Cee Long, and her parents.
Alice is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Thomas (Tommy) Gerald Long Sr; sons, Thomas Gerald (Sabrina) Long Jr., Ben (Sharon) Thomas, Mike Thomas, Robert Thomas, John (Terry) Thomas. Daughters, Pam Thomas, and Debbie Thompson. Stepdaughters, Tandy Long Riha, and Annette (John) Fossati, and many grandkids, and great grandkids.
She married the love of her life, Thomas (Tommy) Gerald Long Sr. on March 6, 1975, and enjoyed 44 years of adventure, and family activities.
After raising 8 children Alice completed the Police Academy in Victoria Texas in 1986. She served proudly for 14 years as a Sheriff Deputy for Victoria County. She enjoyed telling of her adventures as a deputy sheriff.
Alice explored many activities during her lifetime. Besides raising her children, and being a sheriff deputy, she liked to dance to country and western music, and to have fun at family birthday parties and barbecues.
She also enjoyed fishing and being with Tommy on his shrimp boat. She and Tommy also made good memories on the family deer lease, where she enjoyed hunting, and telling stories around the campfire.
One of her favorite activities was making the trip to the Coushatta Casino in Louisiana to play the slot machines.
Later in life she enjoyed sitting in her rocking chair on the front porch with Tommy, and her puppy “Angel”.
A funeral service celebrating Alice’s life will be on Friday June 14, 2019 at 10:00 am at Rosewood Funeral Chapel in Victoria Texas. Visitation and viewing will be from 8-10:00 am.
