We worked together at Mercer in Toronto Ontario and played together occasionally. This photo of us in Dublin, Ireland is a fond memory for me. I enjoyed his personality and admired his intellect.

Mr Cathro was the first golfer that I had the pleasure of caddying for at the Victoria Golf Club. He was incredibly kind and an excellent mentor. I greatly enjoyed his stories and admired his persistence in enjoying a round of golf rain-or-shine. 

My condolences to the Cathro family. 

To the Cathro family:

I write to extend my sympathies in the loss of the patriarch of your family.  Jim and I were at high school together and, although he was one  year ahead, we also connected through the deep friendship of our parents, the Cathro and the Youson families. I recently was part of a gathering of  a few members of his high school graduating class, where I was informed of Jim's death and heard of what a trooper he was dealing  with his protracted disease.  He gained great respect for the extra effort he made to being present at activities with some of these life-long friends.  Also I understand that he was a mentor and stimulus for young persons considering accounting as a career.

I trust that memories of happy times as a family will sustain you now and in the years to come.
