Ulrich ("Bill") passed away on November 29, 2023 at the age of 98.
Born in Staufen im Breisgau, Germany, Bill immigrated to Canada in 1952 due to his passion for the outdoors and the romantic Canadian wilderness. A forester by profession, hobbies included canoeing and fishing, which meant many hours learning fly tying. His love of cross country skiing meant he did his first 50km Birkebeiner the year he retired. An interest in mushroom identification meant a myriad of brown paper lunch bags containing mystery fungi always in the fridge to his wife's great dismay. Developing an obsession for classical guitar meant Bill tried playing along with Liona Boyd records until he gave up after achieving some satisfying success. Other loves included astronomy and astrophysics, bicycling, bread making, bee keeping, and once making bad mead. All that he taught his family along the way was a true blessing and a privilege.
Predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Laurette, all siblings and most friends.
