There weren’t many people who didn’t enjoy Mark. He was gentle, loyal, intelligent and funny. Born in St. John’s Newfoundland, he lived across the country including Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, Burnaby and his final home, beloved Cowichan Bay where he moved in 2017. He earned a Masters of Mechanical Engineering at University of Toronto in 1990. He was proud of his career in manufacturing. He had a passion for leadership and mentoring young engineers. At StarFish Medical, he was involved in sourcing and resolving technical design issues. He was particularly proud of working on the Canadian Emergency Ventilator project.
He loved hiking, kayaking, skiing and his e-bike. He loved cars. He loved good food, good wine and peaty, smoky scotch. He deeply loved his wife Kathy. The two of them shared a love for their cats Coco, Louis and Rosie, and a love for Hawaii. Kathy and family always came first.
He is survived by his wife and partner of 32 years, Kathryne Jo Young and by his mother Muriel Emily (nee Cullen); siblings Lionel Trevor; Gillian Susan (Michael Lee); and Jennifer Ann.
