She is predeceased by her loving husband Bill and survived by her son Bruce (Fonda), daughters Linda (Bill) and Heather (Gary), grandchildren Michael (Danielle), Laura and Jennifer (Andrew) as well as great grandson Daxton and several nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved so much. Mom was an extraordinary listener and had a way of making all of us feel very special.
She was born and raised in Victoria and at 19 years old met the love of her life, our dad Bill. Together they shared a wonderful life and 60 years of marriage. They raised three children, travelled all over the world and had lots of adventures along the way. We have no doubt that they are finally reunited once more.
Her generosity with friends and family was legendary. Growing up all were welcome in our house. From cookouts to summer camping on the Shuswap to sleepovers and parties, all of our friends enjoyed spending time at our house.
Mom’s lifelong passion for music began when she was 18 years old and she bought her first piano. She took lessons but could also play by ear. Even in her last few months, she would play the piano every day.
She also loved to sing and spent many happy years with the Sweet Adelines Barbershop choir, performing on stage and helping out with costuming behind the scenes.
After dad retired, together they founded the Happy Wanderers couples walking club. They met many wonderful friends through that group and opened up their home for countless parties and celebrations over the years.
Mom had a huge smile for everyone and always said, “Laughter is the best medicine!” She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her spirit will live on in all of us.
We would like to thank the caring staff at The Heights as well as her amazing home care ladies: Helen, Rowena and Christina.
