John was employed by The Liquor Control Board for 31 years, and retired Assistant Manager. As high as he wanted to go.
After retirement and during employment he had many occupations. He started and sold a small specialized trucking business. He was employed by the newspaper at one time as a freelance photographer for about two years, working in movies, wildlife, and advertising.
His favorite pastime was to spend time photographing the bears of the Rockies and Alaska. He also enjoyed vintage vehicles.
Born with a gypsy spirit he loved to travel the ocean and try his luck fishing. At one time he owned a boat named “the Free Spirit”. He spent lots of time on long highways with a tank of gas and a big truck. The bigger the better.
Mobility was very important to John. His wife Sheila allowed him to be who he was and gave him encouragement, love, and trust. Life was good with her.
He has another good friend, Fred, his rescue cat.
John has often remarked that he has an interesting and good life, and that he hated to leave his family and many good friends.
