Jacquelin Suzanne Blache ( nee Hall )

Predeceased by her Dad ( 1988) and Mom (2000).

Jacque leaves behind her , adored husband & partner in adventure, Richard. Also mourning her absence are sisters Cathy ( Denis ), Brenda ( Bruce ) and brother Ron. Aunt Doris, cousin Michael, stepchildren; Stephanie ( Sean ), Daniel ( Lauren ), grandchildren Elton and Darla. "A.J." left a lasting legacy in her nieces; Laura, Vicki, Erin ( Andrew ) , nephews Cory & Dean ( daughter Kira ) as well as many dear friends throughout the nursing, cycling and paddling communities.

A registered nurse by profession and a caregiver by nature, to all who were blessed to know her. We are all the better for having had her in our lives for far too short a time.

This world has indeed lost one of its best and most devoted, compassionate and dedicated nurses, called as a young girl to her special mission. The heavens have gained a beautiful angel to join the choir singing His praise and rejoicing in His Presence eternally.

Sisters Cathy and Brenda will cry and recall all the precious memories they made together with “Big Sis”.

Brother-in-law Bruce will be affected almost as deeply having known Jacque for nearly fifty years. Auntie Doris will mourn in her stoic/quiet way her close partner in generous gifts of many kinds over the years, and quite possibly her closest and most faithful niece. Nephews, nieces and step grand-children will definitely miss their nurturing, playful and loving Auntie Jacque and Grandma J.

As a husband I will never be able to replace what an incredible set of events, call it providence or faith if you want, brought into my life at the least expected time. A perfect match to my interests and active lifestyle. A comfortable friend right from the beginning that turned into my soul mate/sweet lover/understanding companion for my outdoor excursions, travel lust and constant rubber necking, even my shutter bug obsession (always willing to act as my model with her illuminating smile, she would often jokingly refer to herself as the long suffering wife).

Jacque was always brave enough to follow and participate in any wild adventure:

white water rafting, jet boating, tandem bicycling in the Rockies at the peak of bear season, caving except for tight spots, snorkelling with spawning salmon in Campbell River, manatees and all sorts of sea creatures in coral reefs in Florida and Mexico, even tried scuba diving in tropical conditions despite her claustrophobia (held a puffer fish on her hand at 60’ in Mexico, downhill skiing at Mont Tremblant, Quebec, Mount Washington and Whistler, amusement park rides (tried all the world class rides at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio; Las Vegas; Disneyland and Disney World; Universal Studios, California and Florida; Sea World; Busch Gardens, Florida).

Enjoyed watching most of the Cirque du Soleil shows in Las Vegas. Visited many car/train/aviation/natural history/art museums throughout the continent, including Balboa Park in San Diego and the Smithsonian museums in Washington. Visited numerous zoos, aquariums, national wildlife refuges and safari parks. Enjoyed many scenic and historic train and boat trips.

Our fabulous cruise through Panama Canal from Vancouver to Fort Lauderdale,Florida, with so many thrilling excursions and activities, was certainly one of our most exciting and pampered trip.

Explored almost all national parks and significant historic sites in Canada and the continental USA (except for the Yukon, Northwest Territories, Alaska) through annual extensive road trips over the course of nearly a quarter of a century.

Experienced many paddling and kayaking excursions in the province and during our vacations in Oregon, California, Florida, Nova Scotia in particular.

Undertook countless bicycling adventures (tandem rallies in the Northwest, vacations, local races, long distance randonneering, bike camping in the region, not to mention her epic club trips in B.C. and Washington with the Royal Jubilee Hospital “Jubilants”.

From humble beginnings bicycle camping in 1995, to truck camping (honeymoon trip on the coast of Oregon), to van camping, to pop-up truck camper, to fifth-wheel trailer, to finally full-time rv’ing in a motorhome (10 months driving around the continent from Victoria to San Diego to Key West, Florida to St Anthony, Newfoundland and back across Canada with lots of exploration and adventures along the way) in 2016-2017.

Jacque was really a superb nature lover, bird watcher (we completed each other),

plant/flower observer/identifier, a keen student during our visits and hikes in natural and historical places and parks.

Jacque was truly a great navigator, fine co-pilot, trip planner, accommodation finder, occasional driver (I rarely surrendered the wheel as I loved driving), overall a most pleasant and resourceful travel companion.

Jacque also was a very classy date for shows, dances and restaurants. She was most seductive as a belly dancer performing on stage and in her sexy outfits on the cruise ship. She showed her funny side in Halloween costumes (black widow spider in club party in Victoria and sexy cat in Las Vegas).

Jacque always made me feel proud and lucky and many of my female friends in particular were envious of our good fortune in finding each other and being such a great match in all aspects... In short, Jacque gave me so many great memories and fun times to hold onto in my mind and in my heart. In fact, she will always be with me.
