With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our Mother ; 2nd January 2022 at the age of 100 in Victoria, BC. Born in Sydney, Cape Breton, NS on the 21st October 1921. In 1945 she travelled from Halifax to Vancouver, BC by train and married Ted Harrison in Royston BC, May 11, 1946. They met in Halifax and fell in love where Ted was stationed on the HCMS Truro in WWII. Together Ted and Emily lived up and down Vancouver Island and raised their 7 children. Emily liked to read novels, loved her hanging baskets and vegetable gardening with daughter Connie and genealogy with daughter Joanne. She had a great sense of humour. She worked in Halifax as a telephone switchboard operator, the shoe department at Eaton's and worked for William Knapp Buckley, the founder of Buckley's cough syrup.
Predeceased by husband Ted in 1973, sister Gloria in 1982, son Dale in 1979, daughter Connie in 1992 and grandson Ryan in 1978, she mourned their loss and missed them every day. Emily leaves behind her son Bill and wife Reta of Victoria, son Rick and wife Anne of Duncan, daughter Joanne and partner Jim of Port Alberni, son Glen of Port Alice, son Chris of Edmonton, sister Connie Richardson in Cape Breton. Along with many nieces and nephews, 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. We will all cherish and share all the amazing memories
