We know she will have heard the words, “Well done good and faithful servant.” She lived her life serving her Lord, her family, friends and even folks she didn’t know. She bravely fought a 14-year battle with lung cancer and in the end, it wasn’t what took her away. At 92 it was just time and we have to let her go. She was thrilled to have witnessed the birth and growing up of all her four grandchildren and welcoming their spouses as they married. She was blessed to have witnessed the birth of a whopping seven great grandchildren. She lived her name in the joy she found in gardening, flower arranging, cooking and baking for others, playing with the kids, painting, crocheting, singing praise to her Heavenly Father, traveling, swimming in her beloved Caribbean Sea of her youth and participating in all the activities of her daughter and grandkids. She also lived her name in the joy she brought to others whether through her warm hospitality, her thoughtful gift giving, her kindness, her generosity, her attention to the needs of others and her love of family times. We will miss her greatly but are thankful that she is now at peace and free from any suffering. Her legacy lives on in the lives of those she has touched and we will honour her as we try to emulate her gifts.
A Celebration of Life service will be held for her on Saturday June 17 at 2:00 pm at Gateway Baptist Church in Victoria followed by a light tea reception.
