She is survived by her spouse Harold, sister Wendy (Bruce), two step-sons, stepdaughters and six grandchildren to whom she showed great love and care. Grandma Bunny is deeply missed by all.
Lynne was born on April 23, 1943, in Victoria, BC, to Wilma and Warren Craig. She was the big sister to Wendy and her brother Doug (Kathy). Doug predeceased Lynne in 1978.
After graduating from Vic High in 1961, Lynne worked at the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory in Saanich and then moved to Vancouver, where she worked as an administrator/receptionist at Rothmans, Benson & Hedges Inc. for 35 years. In young adulthood, she travelled through parts of Europe, and those travels were shared as special memories throughout her life.
In 1990, Lynne and Harold re-kindled a romance that they had shared in their youth. They maintained a long-distance relationship, travelling back and forth between Vancouver and Victoria for 8 years until Lynne retired in 1998. She moved to Victoria to be with Harry, to whom she remained devoted until her passing.
Lynne and Harold enjoyed driving holidays and had epic travels through coastal Washington, Oregon, and California and then through Nevada, Utah, and Idaho. For many years, they enjoyed motorhome travel on Vancouver Island, with their favourite destination being the Parksville area.
One of Lynne's hobbies was investigating family genealogy, and she was able to find and contact relatives who until then had been unknown to the family. Her hobby has born good fruit, and she has left behind many useful records and stories for the family to cherish. Lynne loved spending time with her friends and family, regaling them with stories of the experiences, adventures, and travels that she shared with those close to her. It’s hard to go anywhere in Cordova Bay without meeting people who say how she touched them. She was especially fond of her reunions with old friends from the Victoria High Alumni, with whom she would meet regularly.
Lastly, Lynne provided devoted care, time, and energy to friends and family members in need. Her infectious positivity and enthusiasm could light up a room and make everyone feel better and more alive. Harold’s sons are indebted to Lynne for her love and the loving care of their father, who after his serious accident, could not have recovered without it. Lynne changed lives and saved lives, and without her efforts, some family members would no longer be with us.
Bon voyage, Lynne. You are loved and you are missed. May we meet again.
The family greatly appreciates the efforts of doctors and nurses at Saanich Peninsula Hospital, who provided care and comfort to Lynne in her final days.
Please join us in celebrating Lynne’s life at First Memorial Funeral Services in Royal Oak, Victoria B.C. at 2 pm, September 21st, 2022.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Lynne’s name be sent to the BC Cancer Foundation.
