It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dad Dave Duncan on November 1. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Claire in 2002, sister Mary and brother Geoff. He leaves behind his brother Keith, children Wayne, Laurel, Jodie, Nancy, and Bob Vanderford, grandchildren Darryl, Joel, Chris, Tom, Dave, Kara, and 7 great grandchildren. Dave was born and raised in Brentwood Bay on the family farm and moved to Victoria in his teen years where he attended SMU school. Dave loved to work hard and was always on the go. He was a hands-on businessman - owning a Shell station for over 25 years and the Prairie Inn from 1977-85.
He was compassionate, generous and always willing to help others. His smile was contagious. He loved spending time with his grandkids, shooting the breeze over coffee and going to Arizona where he and Claire had many friends. Dave was a long time member of the Victoria Curling Club and volunteered his time. thanks to all those who looked out for him in his latter years and to Gopal for his kindness and sense of humour. He was a wonderful, caring dad and we'll miss him.
A Celebration of Dave's life will be held on Friday, December 19, 1:00 pm at Gorge Vale Golf Club - 1005 Craigflower Road, Victoria.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dave may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
