Annetta Delacretaz

Annetta (Netta) Delacretaz passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025, in palliative care, after a brief illness. She leaves behind her three daughters, Stephanie (Grant), Rachel (Mike) and Helen (Luis) along with her grandchildren Molly, Jack (their father, Wade), and Amanda, and her great-grandson, James.

Netta was a voracious reader; she was rarely found without a book on her person. She was fiercely independent and intelligent. She enjoyed art, theatre, gardening. and learning. After retiring from a career she loved at the Institute of Ocean Sciences, she filled her days volunteering at the Horticultural Centre of the Pacific and the Victoria Art Gallery, and audited classes at the University of Victoria.

She took up golf and belonged to several book clubs which gave her great joy. Animal welfare and kindness extended to all living organisms (spiders included) were an absolute in her life. Netta was known for her wit, compassion, and enthusiasm for life.

Netta was predeceased by her husband John in 1999. She will be missed and remembered by many. A celebration of life will be organized in the future and in lieu of flowers, please honour her by giving to the Victoria Humane Society, the Horticultural Centre of the Pacific or a charity of your choice.
