Cletus Francis Mangen, 81 of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday September 14, 2022 at 11:07 PM at his residence. Cletus was born November 21, 1940 in Versailles, Ohio, the son of the late Chalmer L. and Gertrude M. (Bey) Mangen.
Cletus was a farmer and worked at New Idea in Coldwater for 38 ½ years and for F & P America for 6 years. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, the Versailles Knights of Columbus; he enjoyed gardening, watching his grandkids play sports and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Cletus is preceded in death by his parents; his infant son, Timothy Joseph Mangen; his sisters, Katherine Mangen, and Pauline Brunswick; his in laws, John & Pat Von Wihl, Berlyn Keiser, and Barb Mangen.
Cletus is survived by his wife, Kay (Von Wihl) Mangen of Versailles whom he married November 9, 1963; his children and spouses, Kim and Gary Weiser of Piqua, Kathy and Jeff Walters of Rossburg, Kris and Travis Parsons of Versailles, Todd and Karen Mangen of New Weston, and Ted and Ahby Mangen of Ansonia; his grandchildren and spouses, john, Matt, and Sarah Weiser, Emily and Garrett Eilerman, Molly and Brad Slyder, Cassie Parsons, and Brianna Mangen; one great grandchild on the way; brothers and sister in law, Ervin Mangen of Rossburg, Basil and Linda Mangen of Versailles; sisters and brother in law, Loretta and Vero Rosenbeck of Versailles, Doris Mangen of Piqua; his in laws, Carl Brunswick of Greenville, Nan Keiser of Gettysburg, and Sandy Von Wihl Harter of Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday September 19, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, Frenchtown, Ohio with Rev. Fr. Ned Brown Celebrant. Burial will follow in Holy Family Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Sunday September 18, 2022 and from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM on Monday September 19, 2022 at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio. The Versailles Knights of Columbus will conduct a prayer service at 4:45 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Versailles Area Rescue.
