Ruby Helena Stewart, age 91, of Vernon BC, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at home, due to cardiopulmonary disease. She was born June 7th, 1933 in Herbert Saskatchewan to John and Margaret (Wall) Unger. The family moved to Mission, BC in 1941 where she married her sweetheart Frank Walker Stewart on August 6th, 1950, who preceded her in death April 23rd, 2018. Ruby maintained a faith in Jesus Christ all her life. Her hands were rarely still as she sewed quilts and blankets her favourite quilt being a log cabin pattern. Visitors to her home were treated to wonderful Mennonite food of her upbringing that today is still being prepared by her offspring.
A verse that anchored her later years is Ephesians 4:32- “and be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.” Ruby is survived by sons, Franklin (Carol) Stewart, Laird (Ruth) Stewart, 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by son Alexander
(Sandy) John Stewart (Sharon) 2004 and brother Elmer Unger. To all of these she loved and touched deeply.
There will be a private celebration of life for Ruby on Saturday, November 2nd, 2024.
