Elvie was predeceased by her mother and father, Jonas and Johanna Hedin, and three brothers: Eric, Bert, and Alvin. She is survived by her loving husband of thirty-one years, Don Graham of Vernon; one sister, Sonja Hearn of Langley; two sons, J. Michael Moir of China and J. Stuart Moir of Pitt Meadows, B.C.; two chosen daughters, Tracey Dawn Graham and Jacqueline Marguerite Graham and her fiancé, Stuart Adams, all of Maple Ridge, B.C.; eight well loved grandchildren: Hannah Moir, and Beth Moir, West Kelowna; Josh, Ben and Kaleigh, all of Pitt Meadows; Kainoa Seaman and Cheyenne Fitzpatrick, both of Maple Ridge and Annabelle Moir, of Taiwan.
Also surviving are the many close friends Elvie made and kept over the years including a long list from Predator Ridge Golf Course where she and Don have resided for the past decade.
Born at Claresholm, Alberta on January 27, 1941, Elvie moved with her family to Penticton at an early age where she attended and graduated from Penticton High School. Her first employment was with the Canadian Bank of Commerce, which she left after a few years, to enter the registered nurses training program at Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver. She graduated from the program at the top of her class and put her education and inherent nurturing nature to good use in the next years, administering to patients in hospitals at Maple Ridge and Kelowna, B.C.
A celebration of Elvie’s life will be held at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 10th, 2012 at 1:30 p.m.
