Cameron was 70 years of age. He is survived by his spouse, Janyce
Thiemann, daughters Penni Cooper (Colin MacKinnon) and Danielle Kilgren (Kalvin) and
grandsons Blake and Nolan as well as stepchildren, Billy (Tracey), Sherry (Rom) and Debra
(Tom) and step grandchildren Blake, Cole, Liam and Alyssa. Cameron is also survived by his
brothers, Michael (Lorna) and Milton (Karey), sisters Barb, Sheila, Joan (Darcy Rogers) and
Tracie, as well as many nephews, nieces and friends.
Cameron spent the majority of his life in Fort Nelson, BC before moving to the Okanagan in
2019 to receive medical care. Prior to falling ill, Cameron was a tug boat captain. He started
working on the boats as a child alongside his father Ed Cooper and brothers on the Nelson,
Liard and McKenzie rivers and the McKenzie Delta. Eventually, Cameron bought his own boat,
the MV Malta II. He was a hardworking man, astute businessman, a voracious reader, country
music fan, a loving spouse, father and grandfather and a beloved uncle and friend. He will be
forever remembered by all who knew him.
Cameron will be laid to rest in his home town of Fort Nelson, BC. A funeral service will be held
at 12pm on Saturday, October 24th, 2020 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church by invitation
and adhering to COVID-19 restrictions. Additionally, a prayer service will be held in Cameron’s
honor on Friday, October 23rd at 7 pm, also at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests
that donations be made to the Northern Rockies Senior’s Bus/Heritage Manor. E-transfers can
