It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Calvin (Cal) Mace Dauncey on May 6, 2015. Cal passed away peacefully, at the age of 78, with his family by his side. He was born in Moose Jaw and grew up in Edmonton with his big sister and loving parents. In 1960, he met his lifelong partner and soul mate, Bonnie, and they raised four children together: Lorri (Jim), Leisa (Lance), Keith (Angie), and Carolyn (Mike). He also leaves behind ten grandchildren and six nieces and nephews. Cal, Bonnie, and their children lived in various cities across western Canada and eventually settled in Vernon.
In his upbringing and throughout his life, Cal was surrounded by his tight-knit family and his treasured pets. He took great pleasure in entertaining others with his story telling and warm humour. Cal volunteered throughout his life including: the Elks Club (White Rock), the Lions Club (Armstrong), the SPCA (Vernon) and, his favorite, The Good Morning Program (Vernon).
Cal held many jobs in the insurance and claims business throughout his working life. He worked for Federated Insurance, transferring from Vancouver to Winnipeg. He then worked for Underwriters Adjustment Bureau in Vernon, and then opened an Underwriters office in Kelowna where he finished his working career. For many years, he enjoyed the beautiful drive between Vernon and Kelowna.
Cal will be deeply missed by all who knew him. At his request, a family gathering was held. Donations to The Good Morning Program (People in Need Crisis Line, Vernon) are welcome and appreciated.
