It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Henry Becker on Sunday October 11, 2020 at the age of 94. He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 69 years, Anne Fedor-Becker, his son Kevin (Katherine), cherished granddaughter Cassandre (Sébastien), predeceased by his brother Anton (Jean Mailer) and beloved nieces Sandee and Cyncee Becker, Diane (Francois) and Francine (Herbert) Fedor, Evelyn (Robert) and Louise Jobba, and dear nephew Ken Jobba (Anne).
Henry was born in Liebling Romania on October 24, 1925 and immigrated to Canada with his parents, Henry Becker and Elena Hartmann on May 22, 1927. After arrival in Canada, the family spent their first years in Saskatchewan, then settled in Montreal. Henry graduated from Montreal High and went on to complete his Bachelor of Science at Sir George Williams College (Concordia University) on June 5, 1953. He worked in various senior administrative positions at the Uniroyal Chemical Company throughout his career.
Henry was an avid cyclist, cross-country skier, and travelled to places near and far with his family and friends. A lover of science and consumer of technology, Henry also loved the solitude of camping and fishing at his beloved Rollins Pond. He enjoyed everything from Star-Trek to Mash, Julia Child to Seinfeld, Tchaikovsky to Roger Miller (King of the Road) and everything in between. He was a wonderful cook, generous tipper, lover of dogs, loyal friend, and a remarkable family man.
His wishes were to forgo a formal funeral gathering, instead to celebrate a life well lived, to take a walk in nature, marvel at the birds, and watch the wind sway the trees, hopefully with sunshine at your back. He was a brilliant man, who touched our lives deeply and will be greatly missed, never to be forgotten. In Henry’s words, “Live long and prosper”.
