Our blessed and beloved father, Terry Evans Stovall, graduated to his eternal home to be with the Lord on July 19, 2018. Terry was born on July 5, 1954 to William and Marie Stovall, and was raised in Oxnard, CA. At the age of 12, his family moved to Ventura, CA where he spent his formidable years, until moving to Arniel Ranch in Camarillo in 1978 with his then wife, Debbie.
Terry graduated from Buena High School and attended Ventura College. He worked at Dial Services as a Civil Engineer Designer, drafting plans by hand on paper. He was very interested in technology and computers, so much so, that he was part of introducing using computers as a drafting tool at his company, using AutoCAD. Many years later, he started Integrated Design group with his good friend and Dial Services co-worker, Ken Beckfeld. He enjoyed the challenge of his career, and the many lasting friendships he established over the 40 years spent in his profession. Terry really loved the people he worked with.
Terry’s family was of utmost importance to him. He loved family get togethers, helping keep everyone close and connected. He facilitated many family memories at his house where his family hosted bbq’s, holiday events, pool parties, and many birthdays. Recently, Terry continued to enjoy family time, whether it was a shopping trip to Costco with his father or lunch with his sister Karen. Terry adored and admired his sisters Karen and Vicky, and developed a strong bond with his older sister Karen. They shared many memories together of going to concerts, having long talks about life, and the occasional shopping trip to Kohls.
Terry loved his family dearly and it was shown by the time he took to spend with his children whom he shared with his former spouse, Debbie Amundsen. He was known as “Grandpa T” to his grandsons who adored him, and loved watching their sporting events and was constantly cheering them on, every moment of the game. He was a pillar of strength and encouragement to Jason and Sarah, always offering to be of support and staying connected in their lives. Terry loved the days when his daughter would come to give him haircuts, as this was his opportunity to catch up on the latest and greatest in their lives. Terry was very proud of his children and always enjoyed getting the latest updates on Jason’s life as a Dad, and career in computer graphics, as they shared similar passions in work and fatherhood. His relationship with his daughter in law was very special to him as they shared a similar kindred spirit. He welcomed her in as one of his own.
Terry had a genuine love for music, playing the guitar, going to concerts, writing and anything and everything technology related. Some of his favorite artists included the Beatles, James Taylor, Eric Clapton and The Eagles.
His faith in God was foundationally important to him. In his youth, Terry attended Ventura Missionary Church. Later in life, he took his young family to EV Free Church in Camarillo where he continued to build his relationship with Christ. Crossroads Community Church became his family’s church during the early 90’s. Calvary in Westlake became a church where he found solace and support in community, where he developed many long lasting relationships. He also actively participated in ministry there, sharing his kindness, compassion and Christ’s love with those around him.
Terry is survived by his children Jason (wife Cori) & Sarah Stovall; his two grandsons Beckett and Gavin Stovall; his father William Stovall, his sister Karen Huerta (husband Steve) and his former wife Debbie Amundsen; his nieces and nephews, Ryan Huerta and Kilee Huerta Hawes (husband Jason); Leah Taylor (husband Greg) and Eric Chambers (wife Sara) and Jenny Zambori (husband Johnny). Terry is preceded in death by his mother, Marie Stovall and his sister Vicky Chambers.
