Longtime Ventura resident, Richard R. Fryer, 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2015, at Community Memorial Hospital. He was born on August 17, 1927 in Brigham City, Utah, to Dale Fryer and Lillian (Rowe) Fryer.
Richard had been very active in high school, playing on the men’s tennis team and swim team. He married Maurine Coleman, and together they had four children. Richard and Maurine were married for 23 years, until her death. Later, he married Charlene Holmes. They had been married for 15 years until her passing.
Richard owned the 76 gas station on Wells Road and Telegraph, in Ventura, for 21 years. He enjoyed gardening, walking on the beach, going to his grandchildren’s baseball, soccer and tennis games.
He is survived by his sons, Ken Fryer and David Fryer; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Mike Marquez; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and his brother, Michael Fryer.
A private memorial service for Richard will be held at a later date.
