Marilyn was born in the Bronx, and grew up there with her beloved sister Selma, surrounded by a loving extended family. After graduating from Queens College with a degree in Early Childhood Education, she was ready for adventure, and moved to California. Two weeks after arriving in Oxnard, she met her husband to be, Ralph Moses. They wed soon after, and were married for 57 years until his passing in 2011.
Marilyn and Ralph had three sons, who she raised with love among family and friends in a welcoming home. She was actively involved in Temple Beth Torah in Ventura in many leadership, ritual, and informal roles. She was always engaged in the community and local politics.
In 2014, Marilyn decided to continue her adventure in Portland Oregon, where she lived in a caring community, enjoying family visits, especially with her great-grandchildren. Marilyn will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her sister, Selma; her sons, Alan, Jerry and Leonard Moses; daughters-in-law, Nancy Friedland, Karen Ronchetti, and Bethany Denlinger; grandchildren, Marina (Zack), Ethan (Bentley), Sam, Ellie, Eric (Niki) and Leslie (Andy); and great-grandchildren, Rosa, Ezra, Xander, Piper, Hazel, Naomi, and Olive.
Donations in her honor can be directed to the NAACP, her most recent personal donation.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura, CA 93003. Condolences may be sent to TedMayrFuneralHome.com.
