I miss you... your sweet spirit and warm smile. I DON'T UNDERSTAND IT AT ALL. You were the first person to greet me as I walked my own "Green Mile" on 6C. I didn't know what to expect. I was freaked and you were so kind. Four and a half years you were not only my nurse but my friend. You poured love into me and my kids, you gave me comfort and strength as I battled through rounds of chemo and the horrific side effects that brought me down at times. You comforted my parents as they struggled to remain strong while they watched their daughter fight for life. You made me giggle when I was "pukey" and always made sure I had my private room for my week "get away!" You turned my tears to laughter and made getting the horrendous headaches turn into "gossip" sessions!" You became a very treasured friend.  My heart remains heavy and my mind so confused....you gave so much...I guess God wanted to cuddle and comfort you. I wish we had one last time together, one last chat...one more hug. Thank you sweet friend, I hope you know how much you mean to me, you will never be forgotten.... Love you forever  Tami

You looked up to me a lot back then
I was older; you thought I was cool too
But what you didn’t know my dear Jen
Was that it was I who looked up to you…

Not only were you extremely smart
You had this great big heart of gold
I knew you would do amazing things
To help those young and old…

It takes a special kind of person
To do the kind of work you did
Helping those who were in need
Just like when you were a kid…

I am so proud of the woman you are
With all the hardships you’ve overcome
But my strong willed lovely Jennifer

For those of you who weren't at Jennifer's service, this is what I spoke about.  In a nutshell!

When Jenny was little she couldn't say April so she would call me Apren. I nicknamed her Jennifart! I can’t even recall a time after that day that we called each other by our real names.  Jennifer had a great spirit.  She was almost always smiling and her eyes actually had a sparkle in them, literally!  She is beautiful inside and out. Jennifer was a giver, even when she was little.  It’s one of the reasons that I love her so much.  She had an amazing ability to make everyone around her smile and laugh, it was just her way.  
Her laugh is unmistakable; you could hear her a mile away.  She definitely inherited her dad’s voice.  I can still hear her laughing and saying “that’s funny” in her quirky little voice.  That was her catch phrase for as long as I can remember! Another gift Jen inherited from Dan was determination.  I remember her filling up her little piggy bank with change one day.  She was in her room and I came over and was going to sneak up on her and scare her!  I cracked her door and she was doing the “here piggy, piggy” and feeding him change.  I asked her what she was doing and she said she decided that she wanted a pet pig and she was sure that if she filled him up with change, he would somehow come to life!  It was just the cutest thing ever.  She never gave up on anything
Dan and Carol did an amazing job raising both their kids, they are both smart, above average smart, loving, gentle compassionate people.  Jenny is the perfect combination of both of her parents.  Jennifer, like her mom also had a very big heart and would do anything for those she loved.  She had a gentleness about her that was just comforting to be around.  She could always make you feel better.
Nursing was really the perfect job for Jenny; she was always helping people and animals when we were little.   She had a passion for it, so it was no surprise to me when she told me she wanted to be a nurse.  She was a healer and I know what a great comfort she must have been to her patients.
Looking back over the last 30 years, we had so much fun, her, her brother Jason and my younger sisters and I. Just about every day during the summers we were all together having the best times.  Even if it was going into the barranca and getting filthy dirty trying to catch the pollywogs or crawdads, or us going down there to spray paint a picture in the forbidden tunnel, which never happened because I fell down the rocks, the spray paint can hit a sharp rock and sprayed us all over with black paint.  I was covered in it.  When we got to back to Jen’s house, Carol rubbed us down with gasoline to get the paint off, made me take a shower and washed my clothes because I got the brunt of all the paint, all the while laughing her head off at our misfortune.  I know I will never forget that day, partly because Jenny used to tease me about it constantly for years afterward, but it was so much fun.  I will treasure those memories for the rest of my life.
I know that all of us here today know Jen in one way or another, and I know how happy she would be to know that so many people cared about her.  It’s unfortunate that people don’t realize how lucky they are in life and that it takes a tragic event like this to make people remember.
  I encourage everyone in this room to remember how precious life is, to never take a second for granted with your loved ones, because lives can be forever changed in an instant.  
I know Jenny would want me to tell you to love your family, your friends, work hard and to live each day as if it were your last.  I know right now that she is in Heaven watching over all of us, and although losing her is hard, I know that she will provide us the strength to get through this.  
Talk to her when you want to, for she is listening; love her still, because she hasn’t really left us.  I think Jenny’s legacy lies in the many fortunate lives she had a hand in saving, for those are people who will pass on stories of the amazing nurse named Jennifer who each will have a story to tell their loved ones, and that story will be passed on and on down for years to come.  I think that is how she will live on.  Through each and every one of us, telling our stories of our lovely Jennifer.  
Jen, not a day will go by that I won’t think of you.  I would like to thank you for 30 years of friendship and memories and tell you that I love you very much.

To the girl with the best smile and biggest heart. You will be tremendously missed. Thanks for always being a amazing friend!

A good song to listen to at a time like this is "Sissy's Song" by Alan Jackson.  Its about the loss of a young loved one.  Though, I didn't know your Jennifer personally, I am a friend of Robin's whom worked w/Jennifer at Cottage.  Sending my heart felt prays, that the Lord will comfort you as you adjust to this painful loss of a child.  Know that Jennifer now walks with Jesus in Hid Kingdom forever and ever, and that you and your loved ones will be reunited.  I pray that you will find comfort in "faith", and "acceptance" in the Lord's plan for Jennifer.

Danny, Carol and Jason our thoughts and prayers are with you. There are no words that we say to ease your pain. Just know we are thinking of you.

Our hearts are aching Jen, you were such a blessing to everyone for whom you cared and with whom you worked. I was one of your first, if not the first patient you took care of on the 6th Floor of Cottage.  Your smile, sense of humor and genuine concern for me and my family was very comforting; and your knowlege, skill and enthusiasm were impressive for someone so young at the time.  I remember you exclaiming "I just learned about this in my class!" as you went the extra mile to discover the cause of a serious side effect I had. Thank you so much for all you did for me, my wife and children, you made a difficult time in our lives much easier. You will be missed by us all.

Jen cared for my late wife at the time when late stage cancer was diagnosed. Our family will always remember and appreciate Jen's fantastic attitude,  sweet personality, and the remarkable support and hard work she provided during the worst event of our lives.
Jen's loss at such a young age has deprived the world of an incomparable benefit. We wish the family our best at this impossible time.

We were 13 when we met. You walked into my home economics class and sat next to me. We ended up eating lunch together that day, and every day after that.  We shared a locker and everything else possible during high school.  We were instant best friends. So many milestones and memories, so many first. 
Although we didn’t see each other often in recent years we always stayed connected. We would quickly catch up after a few months as if we were in contact the whole time. Twenty years brings a trust that only true friendship knows.  Thank you for always being my friend and confidante.  Words cannot express what you have meant in my life, or how much I will miss our friendship.

Jen, my sweet friend.  Although we have not spent much time together since high school, you have remained in my heart, always.  I'm so sorry for your family, because they are all still here, while you've moved on to the next part of the journey.  I will continue praying for your mom, dad, and brother, as well as the many who adored you here on earth.  My sister lost her four year old son last year, unexectedly.  There is so much pain involved in loosing a child, it's unimaginable.  My sister wanted me to pass along to your mom, that if she'd ever like to talk, she would be available.  Love you sweet one. There are no words to describe the pain we all feel at losing you.  You were such a HUGE part of my childhood, going into adulthood.  I will always cherish our treasure hunts, or picnics and our long heartfelt conversations about our hopes and dreams.  For 30 years we friends, and that is such a rare and beautiful thing.  I love you more than words can say and I think about you every single day.  I look outside my window and I can see your house, but I know you aren't there.  But your mom and dad, whom you know I love will be well looked after.  And Helmet, my special little dude.  Thank you for blessing me with your friendship, your family and most of all your heart. I will always enjoy the genuine conversation and kindness she shared as I, and others made her non-fat lattes.  Many of us at her local Starbucks will miss her dearly.  Finding out that it was our 'Jen' who had passed so tragically was very hard to fathom. My condolences go out to all of those that she has brought a smile to.

Jennifer and I loved eachother.  No one cared for me more than her.  I lost a dear friend who knew me as well as anyone.  I won't be the same without her and I will miss her deeply and forever.  Her life touched so many others.

I do not personally know Jennifer however I know one of her best friends Nikki.  Everyone has been saddened by the untimely death of such a young woman.  I have been praying for everyone that is still in shock and grieving.  Grieving takes years to work through-if at all!!! Jennifer will be remembered by all who love her - always!!!

Jennifer you were always there to listen to me if I had a problem and I loved being there for you to return the favor. We had many laughs and many cries. I will never forget sitting on the floor of your closet trying on all your shoes and drinking wine. You are beautiful beyond words and loved more than you will ever know. It feels empty everytime I look at your place and I keep waiting to hear you call my name from your patio. You not being here on this earth anymore is a heartbreaking tragedy. I wish things were different. Tell my dad we say hello and give him a bug hug and kiss.

I had the honor and privilege of meeting and becoming friends with Jennifer about 8 years ago.  she was a beautiful, caring, wonderful person. she will truly be missed by all those whose lives she touched.

I only knew Jennifer from passing in the hallways of the hospital. Once you saw her any troubles or worries you had vanished. She had a smile and a sparkle in her voice that only a few of us in this world are lucky enough to have. What made Jennifer so special is she shared this special gift with everyone!

I first met Jenny in my early high school years.  She has been a part of my life for about 20yrs.  Her birthday is exactly 1 week before mine.  Every year we would at least call eachother on our birthdays.  Sometimes a few months to a year would slip by that we wouldn't see eachother, but if the song "The Joker" came on the radio or something, we'd send eachother a message on our voicemails and know exactly who it came from.  Thought we'd always be around to catch up on things if too much time went by.  My love goes out to her family. Carol, Dan, Jason, Lani and Brenda.  I love you all and will always cherish the many memories I had with Jenny!
