Eddie was born on June 22, 1930 in Nevada, MO, to the late Enis and Irene Cole. He attended high school in Rich Hill, MO and following graduation he relocated to the California San Fernando Valley. Here Eddie met Mary Lee Shurtz, they married in 1949.
He joined the Operating Engineers Union in the 1950’s and later became the business agent for Local 12, Ventura office. During his time as a business agent he was appointed to the Ventura County Grand Jury for two years. The highlight of Eddie’s career was serving as the Director of Labor Relations for the construction of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. He retired in 1988 to build his retirement home in Pollock Pines, CA.
Eddie occasionally attended the First Christian Church. His hobbies included woodworking, boating (building and maintaining), and traveling including cruises in his later years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mary Lee; and his companion of the last six years, Peggy Sutton. Eddie is survived by his son, Daniel Cole and wife Chris; son, Jimmy Cole and wife Jennifer; daughter, Cheryl Fraser and husband Tom; daughter, Lori Vaughn and husband John; eight grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Sadie.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life service in the spring of 2015.
