

After high school, he attended Michigan Technological University and graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in engineering. He worked for the city of Lansing, and also worked on Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan with Albert Kahn Associates. However, his most rewarding work came when he was hired by Monarch Welding, where he worked until his retirement in 2010. After that, Ray moved to Gladwin, Michigan where he lived in the Sugar Springs community where he played golf and enjoyed lakeside living. There he met Shari through music and they were married August 19, 2016.
Ray enjoyed playing ice hockey, golf, and guitar. For the past several years he played music and sang with his wife at Venice Beach on Thursday nights with a band called "Paradise Found". He was also a member of the Pelican Point Golf Club, where he played on several leagues.
He is survived by his wife Shari (Knight), step-children Matthew Bellehumeur (Rachel) of Wyandotte MI, Krystle Clear (Mott) of Gaylord MI, and Liz Shahan of Centennial CO, brother Mark Holcomb (Judith)of Tecumseh, MI, sister Linda Cole (Bruce) and nephew Matthew Cole (Patience)of the Lansing, MI area. Ray leaves behind six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Ray was predeceased by his first wife Nancy, by his brother, Steve, and his parents.
There will be a celebration of life on Tuesday May 6, at Pelican Point Golf Club in Venice from 1-4 pm.
Arrangements in Michigan will be held on May 18, 2025 from 1-4 pm at the Grand Blanc Moose Lodge on 4043 Howe Rd., in Grand Blanc, MI 48439.
