She attended Marshall High School and then Olivet College, where she earned her teaching degree in English. While at Olivet, she met Larry, the love of her life. After graduation, they moved to Big Rapids, where Larry earned his pharmacy degree, and she worked in the president's office. They married in June of 1973, had that first child, and moved to Essexville, MI. Nancy worked as a substitute teacher, and Larry worked at SuperX. 1977, they had their second child and bought Fruin Pharmacy in Bellevue. Nancy became an English teacher at Bellevue Middle School. She also attended Western Michigan to get her Master’s degree in Counseling.
Nancy was an active member of the community while in Bellevue. She organized clown days, served on the city council, and helped start the Bellevue Memorial Scholarship Foundation.
She also won the Enquire Newspapers George Award for her Civic duties.
Nancy was a very creative soul. She enjoyed many hobbies and was always looking for new challenges. Some of her favorites were carving a full-size carousel horse, stain glass, basket weaving, drawing and crocheting,
Proceed in death by her parents, sister Glenda Kling, brother John Nash, sister-in-law Katy Nash, and brother-in-law George Zaremba.
Survived by husband Larry, married for 51 years. Daughter Jennifer Michiels, son Matthew (Dr. Erica) Michiels. Grandkids Samantha (Emma) Lytle, Sydney (Josh) Sonnevil, Xander Miller, Alden, and Adeline Michiels. Great-grandchildren Branson and Brooklyn Sonnevil. Sisters Shirley Zaremba and Marilynn (Doran) Quigg.
We will not be having a funeral at this time. We will have a celebration of life this summer.
