Karen graduated from Erie East High school in 1966. Shortly after, married and started a family. After raising children, she began work outside of the home in the Dublin City School District as both a head cook and bus aide for special needs students.
A few years after retiring, she decided to move to Venice, Florida where she enjoyed socializing, playing cards, trivia nights, and going to dinners with others from the community. She loved doing crafts, shopping, and was an avid Ohio sports fan, especially Ohio State football. She treasured the support and companionship of her neighbors, friends, and family.
Karen is preceded in death by her father Lawrence (Del) and mother Katherine (Kay) Darling. She survived by the father of their children Dennis Lantzy, her son Timothy Lantzy, daughter Denise (Justin) Holiga and granddaughters, Stella and Lucy.
Karen was kind, loving, and generous. She will be missed by many; a free spirit, gone too soon.
Friends and family are invited to join us for visitation and services at Kay Ponger & Uselton on November 18th at 11:30, followed by a brief graveside service at Gulf Pines Memorial Park.
A celebration of life will also be held in Columbus, Ohio in the near future.
In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to be made in Karen’s honor to the Russian Orthodox Church of the Nativity at 247 East Front St. Erie, PA 16507.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.kaypongervenice.com for the Darling family.
