A beloved son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin and friend, William Wei Lun Hoong, unexpectedly passed away on July 4th, 2020 at the age of 28. He was born on January 11th, 1992 in Vancouver, British Columbia among the loving arms of his mom, Mamie Yee and his dad, A Bao Hoong.
William (Will) was a caring, loving and smart person who loved to be silly at times. Whenever someone needed a shoulder to lean on, he was always there in a heart beat as he put everyone’s happiness above his own. He had the brightest smile and such a the kind heart that touched everyone in ways that no one else could.
William cherished the time being with his family (Grandparents, Parents, Brother, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins), but most importantly his Grandma who he had spent most of his life living with. William rebuilt her entire garden in the backyard, knowing how much it meant to Grandma. His spirit will forever be in the garden - The Garden of Family, Friendship, and Love.
William never stopped learning new things throughout his life. After 3 years attending Vancouver Technical Secondary, he spent his last 2 years in culinary arts program at Burnaby Central Secondary School and later became a chef at the Boathouse Restaurant. William was very proud of his Amazon candle company called You4Yah and his successful investment portfolios. His favorite quote was “Patience, determination, hard work and a solid team make a great vision.”
William valued relationships with all the people he had encountered along the way. He enjoyed hanging out with friends and talking about life, helping when needed, and always making people laugh. One of his happiest moments was the time he worked at Costco Richmond with his closest friend. He once said he enjoyed every moment and every second of his life with every person he had met.
He saw himself as a true CBC #chineseborncountry as the love for country music changed his life. His brother and friends will always remember how happy he was at Luke Bryan and Luke Comb concerts. One of the best days of his life was the night he had at Florida Georgia Line concert with his best friend.
William will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00pm to 8:30pm on Friday, July 24th, 2020 at Glenhaven Memorial Chapel.
