My gift to you is that I saw something through.
Forty years ago you were supporting me and my interest in herbology by driving me across the city to take a course at a college.
With two babies at home I wasn’t able to complete the course, then.
Today I mailed in the last lesson and exam, finishing a three year correspondence course .  It took me 40 years Dad, but I finally did it.

I received a little gift today, from the grandkids. Two tins of Murchies tea. I immediately felt my heart warm and thought of you. I told them that Murchies was your favourite coffee and tea shop. 

Earlier this week I was sharing with Abby that you last carried Lachlan on your hip and you held Morgan in your arms but you had already left for Heaven before she came down. She nodded her head seeming to know that her family extends beyond her field of vision to a place in her heart.

You are never far away Dad.

Dad, you were a man of quality, of resolute and integrity, a person who wanted the best for yourself and for others, especially your family...and that I truly respect and acknowledge. Dear Dad; tomorrow December 17, 2015 will mark the one year anniversary of the end of a wonderful and rewarding life for a person, a son, a brother, a friend, a husband and a father. Thank you again for bringing me and my siblings into this world, so that we can be proud of ourselves thanks to your love and devotion to family and goodness in mankind. You tried to see the glass half full and you kept your eye on the donut and not upon the hole. May you rest in peace and know that the many people you touched are better people today and they love you forever.

On November 9, 2015 the cremains of Thomas Bourne sailed from CFB Halifax aboard HMCS St. John's. On Remembrance Day 2015 his cremains were committed to the sea, the North Atlantic Ocean, as he had wished.  His journey now complete.

Rest in peace TW You were the best father figure I was honored to have known. Thanks for all you shared with all of us, Mister.

Condolences to the Bourne Family.  I am Gordon Bourne's daughter from Toronto.  Gordon was born October 26, 1907.  Son of Richard Carmichael Bourne.  Siblings Walter, Brian, Jack, Eleanor and step brother and sister Jim and Dorothy.  My sister Carol Bourne (Brock) sent me your father's obituary thinking we may be cousins.  We are both born in Toronto - 1936 and 1948 respectively.  Carol has lived her entire life in Toronto - I have lived in BC since 1972.  You can contact me at bbellina@telus.net or 250-425-6958.  I've done quite a bit of geneology work and this would be really interesting if we are connected.  Bev Bourne (Bellina).  (P.S.My uncle Walter lived his entire life in Toronto and died at 99).  The Bourne's in my family are long-livers.  Sounds like the same with your father Walter.

Hi Dad; well you're another year older and still going strong in our hearts and our memories. You will soon be resting in the waters of your choice and we hope that this transition will allow you the closure that you wished. Thinking of you today Dad as it would have been your 95th birthday. We sent balloons from Emily's tree overlooking the ships and Third beach.  It was a beautiful day! The balloons travelled up and westward, out to sea. Very fitting. Thank you for sharing your love of waterways and ships with me! Happy adventure Dad!

We were so sorry to hear about the passing of Uncle Tom, our thoughts are with you all.

Uncle Tom, we were deeply saddened to hear of your passing and we will all miss you.  Your legacy lives on across Canada with your family and friends.  I will cherish the memories I have of you and the fun times the families had together at your Scarborough home on Bethune Blvd and throughout all the  family golf tournaments we've had over the years. Last evening a number of us from the Toronto "Bourne" clan, joined together at a Christmas Church service to offer our thoughts and prayers to one and all at this time. Uncle Tom would have loved the service, it was all about the fulness of life, hope and peace.  We know he will be sorely missed, however, the legacy he left behind will continue to live deep within all of us. Love to All...Susan (niece)

Uncle Tom, you lived a truly amazing life blessed with family, and friends, both near and far.  Thank you for preserving our Bourne family history over all these years, so that we all have the opportunity to know our heritage.  We know our Dad Edgar, will miss his big brother Tom, so we will share our stories of you with him, remember the traditions you both began, like the Bourne Family Golf Tournament over 40 years ago, and think and speak of you often.   You will be missed, and will be in our hearts, always.
