June 19, 1949 – May 16, 2018
Ruth was the daughter of the late Bernard Alexander Pettipas (1991) and Mary Louise Clarke (2006) and the second youngest of 9 children.
Ruth is survived by her daughter Alicia, son-in-law Scott and granddaughters Rachel Grace, age 16 and Naomi Ruth, age 14. Also, her stepson Jeff, her stepdaughter Alison and husband Colin and granddaughters Ilyena, age 4 and Gwyneth, age 3. As well as her siblings and their spouses; June, Patricia, Jim, Lynn (Christopher) and Donna (Ted). She is also survived by her sister-in-law Elke and brother-in-law Neil and many loving nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by her devoted husband Rob, of 18 years, earlier this year and by her sisters Audrey, Bernice and Arlene.
Ruth was born in Moncton, New Brunswick and moved to Ontario at the age of 5. Later on settling in Vancouver, BC.
Ruth was very adventurous, tackling white water rafting at 40, hand-gliding on her 50th birthday and dog-sledding with Rob at 65. She was very brave and always looked for new daring challenges. Her family was often in awe of what she considered fun. Ruth also loved to travel and gained many special memories from her ventures.
Although Ruth enjoyed her adventures her greatest treasure was her family. Rob was a gift from God – her true soulmate and best friend. Their 18 years of marriage filled her heart with love and security. Her siblings, nieces and nephews were her closest friends and Ruth delighted and took great pride in being a Mom and Grandma.
Through the years Ruth worked as a very competent and friendly receptionist and secretary for importing and exporting companies in Ontario and BC. She loved people and working with them.
Ruth had a loving, kind, thoughtful and generous heart. She was an amusing storyteller and took life in stride. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her but take great comfort and hope in the Lord that we will one day see her again.
