Ken lived a full and adventurous life. He was born on 12th October, 1924 in Hong Kong. He attended Queens College, one of the most prestigious high school in Hong Kong. His schooling was interrupted by the Japanese invasion at the dawn of the Second World War after his graduation from high school. His family decided to stay in the Japanese occupied Hong Kong and survived the three-years-and-eight-months of occupation under extremely difficult conditions. He joined the Hong Kong government service after the war with the Agriculture and Fisheries Department. With a young and growing family, he studied part time for his college education and acquired a bachelor degree in economics. He was sponsored and sent by the Hong Kong government to the United Kingdom to study co-operative movement at the Leicester University. Upon return to Hong Kong, he was subsequently promoted to act as the Registrar for Co-operative Societies and Credit Unions in Hong Kong. He took early retirement from the government service and moved his family to Canada in 1974 to settle in Vancouver. He started Lau-clansman society in Chinatown and Golden tours travel. Travel and food were his passion. He traveled with his wife, Winnie, to all corners of the world and the five continents.
Dad will be remembered for his kind heart, his love for his family, and his courage. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at 8.00 am Glenhaven Memorial Chapel 1835, E. Hastings Street, Vancouver, B.C., V5L 1T3.
