It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeffrey Robert Ballah, affectionately known as Jeff, who passed away at the age of 61 on November 5, 2024 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Born in Guelph, Ontario, on February 24, 1963 Jeff was a man whose warmth, generosity, and infectious smile left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
A passionate musician at heart, Jeff found joy and solace in playing his guitar and banjo. His love for music transcended borders, and throughout his life, he shared his talents and love of song with friends and family. Whether playing at gatherings, or simply enjoying the rhythm of the world around him, music was his constant companion.
In his lifetime, Jeff travelled extensively, both for pleasure and work, exploring the world with a curious spirit and an open heart. His travels took him to many corners of the globe, enriching his life and providing countless stories and friendships along the way. Despite his many adventures, he always found time to return to the people he loved, sharing experiences and memories that would last a lifetime.
32 years ago, Jeff made the decision to move to British Columbia, where he found peace in the natural beauty of the landscape and the vibrant community of friends and colleagues who became his extended family. It was here that he truly felt at home, enjoying the mountains, the sea, and the incredible people he met along the way.
Those who knew Jeff remember him for his kindness, his positive outlook, and his genuine interest in others. He was a person who always saw the bright side of life and never hesitated to lend a helping hand. His ability to lift others’ spirits with a simple smile or a word of encouragement was unmatched. Jeff was the person you could always count on for support, a laugh, or a moment of joy.
Jeff was predeceased by his sister Janet Yule and is lovingly remembered by his mother Judy his sister Kristin (Drew), brother Kieran John (Andrea), brother-in-law Jamie Yule. He will also live on in the hearts of his nieces and nephews Robbie, John, Lloyd, Alex, Alissa, Matty and Darian and his many friends who considered him family. His passing leaves a void that will be felt by all who were lucky enough to know him.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Katy and the team at Vancouver Coastal Health for the exceptional care provided to Jeff. Your dedication and compassion made a significant difference and we are truly grateful for everything you did.
Though he is no longer with us, Jeff’s spirit will live on in the songs he played, the smiles he gave, and the kindness he shared with the world. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and joy will remain with us always.
