Jean Ogilvie MacPherson was born Jean Ogilvie Heddle on January 15, 1936, in Dunfermline Scotland. She was surrounded by her children and their spouses in her final moments and passed away on June 30th, 2021 in Burnaby, BC, Canada, at the age of 85.
She is survived by her children Doug Andrews and Elaine Seymour, her sister Isobel Sneddon, brother-in-law Henry Sneddon, niece and nephew Gillian and Michael Sneddon along with many cousins, extended family and friends. She also had a unique role as a surrogate grandma to Mathew and Paul Harris who affectionately called her ‘Nana Jean’.
Jean’s heart always remained in Scotland, but she embraced her Canadian life after moving to Vancouver in 1969 where she worked and lived until her passing. Jean was the finest example of kindness and generosity. She was warm and always greeted everyone with a smile. She was active in her community and loved to socialize and participate in bowling, line dancing, her many fitness classes and volunteer work. She loved to walk in her neighbourhood on a daily basis or go for an extended walk somewhere new. She made many friends wherever she worked or lived and formed lasting relationships with all who knew her.
Our hearts are heavy, but take comfort in the many happy memories that we hold dear.
”She was born a Scottish lass and so too she remains.
She has come home again to the soil once walked on and the wind that embraced her spirit.
She has found the peace she so desired and the love that always surrounded her.
She is always present in our hearts and lives through our memories of a kind-hearted Scottish lass.”
