Mr. Hong Eng Chea was born and raised in Kampot, Cambodia on December 15, 1927. His parents were Long Chea and Chhieng Vouch Tan. He has 5 younger brothers and 3 younger sisters. Some of his best friends were Mixay and Somnang. In 1958, he married Ms. Troung Kim Lan in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Mr. Chea was a business man in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. He liked to understand something before taking action, use his experience to make informed decision, and plan accordingly. His favorite pastimes included watching soccer and the Chinese news.
Mr. Chea came to Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada in 1986 and then moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in 1988. Despite fighting a brave battle against gout in his knees, pneumonia, and Parkinson’s disease, Mr. Chea passed away in Mount Saint Joseph Hospital on November 23, 2012.
Mr. Chea is survived by his loving family: wife: (Troung Kim Lan), two sons (Phong and Koing), five daughters: (Dianne, Meng, Phet, Kin, and Kung), son-in-law (Quang) and two daughters-in-law (Lai and Phuong). He has eleven grandchildren: Paul, Marvin, Richard, Roger, Margaret, Alexander, Kevin, Michael, Serina, Gordon and Monida.
