Our dear Cynthia passed away early Friday morning, under the wonderful care of Dogwood Lodge (Vancouver), Cynthia’s home for over 26 years.
Prior to living at Dogwood Lodge, Cynthia was living with her loving parents Tiny (Eleanor Digby nee Gillies) and Dr. Donald Wadleigh Moffatt.
Cynthia attended Jericho Hill School for the Blind in Vancouver, and she was considered a mentor to many of the students. She returned to graduate from York House School in 1963, having attended Kindergarten there.
Cynthia attended Pitman Business College, Vancouver, originally situated at Granville & Broadway and also attended the Hatlen Centre for the Blind in San Pablo, California for a year.
Cynthia will be remembered for her grace and her spirited, loving and courageous nature.
Despite her blindness throughout life, Cynthia found herself riding bicycles, XCountry skiing, swimming and always enjoyed seating herself in front of a piano to play songs for herself and others. She was also the very important fixture at Hood Point, Bowen Island’s outdoor Summer Church Services playing the hymns on her miniature organ.
Cynthia will be very missed by sisters Jane Grenawalt (Bill), Eleanor Moffatt, Roxana Adams (Bruce), nieces Christa Grenawalt (Alex), Ashleigh Riggs (Jason), Lindsay Grenawalt (Erik), nephews Karsten Sollors (Brian), Mark Sollors, and grandniece Belle, grandnephews Ben & Kai. Stepniece Denise Adams and stepnephews Ian and Brock Adams (Jenna), stepgrandniece Jordana and stepgrandnephews Easton and Owen.
We picture Cynthia spirited away on wings now, seeing all she could not see in this life journey and running with abandon, having no more constraints of blindness and body.
Thank you beautiful Cynthia, Cynth, Cia, C for being in our lives and teaching us so much!
