

With great sadness we announced that our beloved father, Chaw-Chen Shih passed away peacefully at St John Hospice on June 5th, 2020 at the age of 96. His wife, son, daughter-in-law and daughter were by his side. He was born on December 2, 1923 in China. He served in Republic of China Navy after World War II. He and his wife moved along with R.O.C. Government to Taiwan in 1948. He retired as Lieutenant Colonel from Navy in 1976. After his Navy service, he worked in commercial vessels and in charge of communication. That was how he had chances to travel around the world. He immigrated to Canada in 1992 with wife Yu-Jen and children Jimmy and Ching. He loved beautiful sceneries, fresh air, pure water, family and friendships in Vancouver since then. He was very active and loved hiking. He had great interest in cooking. He loved cooking for family and friends with his own special Shih's signature dishes. His funeral service is scheduled on June 16th, 2020 at 12:30p.m. at Mount Pleasant Universal Funeral Home. His family have donated part of his savings to Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation and Buddhist temples. May him rest in peace.
